Thalia 1998 to April 2013
My beautiful rescue girl Talia after 15 long years with me was put to sleep last night. Talia came with me from Bristol to Burnham-on-Sea and really flourished in the quieter environment. She was always a bit of a stressy cat and when I got her 15 yrs ago she would hide in my draws should anyone come to the door. With time her confidence grew and she become a very loving and affectionate lady. Talia and I had been through a lot together and she will be leaving a very big hole in my feline family.

DEAR CATS - The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate of food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and nor do I find it aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and it is not a Formula One race track. Racing me to the bottom is not the objective. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

There is no point racing to the phone or weaving in front of me when I am trying to get to the phone unless you plan on answering it.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a kingsize bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the sofa to ensure your comfort, however. Cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on each end to maximise apace taken is nothing but SARCASM.

For the last time, THERE IS NO SECRET EXIT FROM THE BATHROOM! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the handle or get your paw under the door in an attempt to open it. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years, feline attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is, Kiss me first, then go smell the other cats butt. I cannot stress this enough.

Mopping and cleaning the floor does not constitute the need for you to vomit up a furr ball. Neither is it required when visitors come.

And Finally, the fridge is not the great white god in the kitchen that you need to sit in front of and look adoringly at.
Goodbye to Mika Willow 26th Dec 2011
Today I say goodbye to my beautiful special boy, Mika Willow. He will always hold a special place in my heart and will be sadly missed by all at Carbeile Cats.

Cats and Chickens !!!! 4th September 2011
We have 2 new additions to the Carbeile household - Winnie and Bertha are 2 Bluebell chickens.

Don't worry I did do my research as was not going to get them if they would be like lambs to the slaughter. I was assured that chickens and cats are fine with each other.

As it has turned out it is the chickens that will give the cats a hard time and chase them off should the cats get too nosey.

I have had these chickens for 2 weeks now and have had no problems what so ever. The photo was taken the 2nd day I had the chickens and the 1st day that the cats and chickens were let out together.

Neither the cats or chickens take a blind bit of notice of each other now.
The sad Loss of LYTA.
Lyta my 13yr old rescue girl died on the 2nd of June 2010. I do suspect that she had a massive brain haemorrhage as she had been showing some symptoms of a neurological disorder for a short period previously.

Lyta was with me a very long time and there is now a big gap in the feline family. She will be very much missed.

Just to introduce you to Chirpa my new boy. He has been with me a week now and has settled really well. Chirpa was able to come to me as a Pet show boy from Barbecco Siamese and Orientals. I am so pleased with him and would like to thank both Marianne and Frank for allowing me to have such a lovely boy.

For more info on Chirpa please see the Neuters page.

TIME FOR A BREAK - 8th November 2009
Well with the baby Birmans going to their new homes this week, this will officially make me a kitten free zone. I know I will and do miss them all, but it is time for a break and focus on moving. The house is on the market and I am getting some viewings so hopefully a buyer soon. I have seen a property that I like and fingers crossed no-one will buy it before I get a buyer for my place. I do plan on staying in the somerset area and not too far from where I am now.

I also intend to take this opportunity to do a bit of showing with Hermione and Paige in the hope that I can get Hermione her champion status. I might be being abit optimistic as there are alot of stunning Siamese around but we will give it a go.

I will keep the site updated if there is any news.
The Sad Loss of Boji Stone 19th September 2009
It is with great sadness that I have to write this. My beautiful, beautiful boy Boji Stone was killed on the road yesterday evening. His absents will leave a huge gap within the feline home and he will be sorely missed.

Goodbye Boji you will always be in my thoughts and I will always love you.
Well it has been five years now since I bought my first pedigree cats, Cardhu and Oban and also 5 years since my father died. This event was the motivator behind getting my Birmans and my Dad was a huge lover of cats any kind but especially tabbies. When I first got my beautiful Birmans I never really planned to get into breeding or showing but just wanted to let Cardhu have one litter as she was so pretty. Well 5 years on and you can see what has happened !!! But I have to say that I have loved every minute even the tough times as it reminds me of how fragile life is and how we should cherrish every minute we have together.
THE CARBEILE CUP - September 2009
I choose the name CARBEILE as this was the name of the house that my dad was born in and have dedicated this trophy to the memory of my father as it was his passing that lead to the birth of CARBEILE CATS.

The Carbeile Cup will be awarded to the Best Male Adult Tabby point Birman at the Southern & South Western Birman Cat Club Show being held at the Freshbrook Community Centre, Swindon on the 12th of September.

SO PLEASE DO COME ALONG TO SEE WHICH STUNNING TABBY POINT BOY TAKES THIS CUP HOME and of course to see all the other lovely cats that are at the show.

DON'T FORGET 12TH SEPTEMBER SEE THE S&SWCC website via my links page for more details.

After nearly eight weeks of highs and lows, intensive care, fear and anxiety, Star's human mummy (Lynne) ringing and visiting every weekend and worrying enough for the both of us. Star pulled through after having a few tough moments leaving both Lynne and myself fearful that Star wouldn't survive these set backs, but I am pleased to announce that Star went back home to her feline and human mummys fit and well on the 21st August 2009.

Star is pictured here with Silka her real mum after just 2 days of being at home. It is like she never left. Silka has taken her back under her wing and is fussing and loving her as a good mum would.

This for me has been an amazing experience, hard work on occassions and alot learn't but I do not regret fostering one single bit. I have made 2 very good friends in Lynne and her sister Paula and to see Star fit and well back at home makes the whole experience well worth it.
FOSTER BABY progress 19th July 2009.
Little STAR as she is called is shown here looking exceedingly content, smug and happy. I am pleased to say that to date Fostering Star has been a great success and I am very pleased that both myself and Hermione were able to look after this lovely little girl for her owner. I am also glad that her owner will be keeping her and we will remain in touch which means I will be able to follow Star's progress.

I am also pleased to say that through this I have made 2 very good friends, Lynne and Paula, it has been an absolute pleasure.
Three weeks ago I recieved a desperate call from another breeder who had lost all her Siamese litter bar one and Mum didn't have enough milk to feed this last little girl. I agreed to try and am very pleased to say that Hermione adopted this little girl without any concerns. This picture was taken in the first week.
HERMIONE 17th June 09
Just a quick update, Hermione hasn't given birth yet. She won't be considered as late until after this weekend.

There are no concerns as I can see and feel the kittens moving around and being active plus Hermione is fit and well in herself, obviously enjoying pregnancy far too much !!!
If you have ever considered having a Birman but don't want a kitten there are often adults looking for loving homes. The SOUTHERN & SOUTH WESTERN BIRMAN CAT CLUB have a welfare page with information about adults needing new homes. Go to my links page and log onto the site and you will find lots of information on the Birman cat, the club and much much more.
Kittens Due in May and June (10/5/09)
Tamnavulin is due to give birth on the 25th of May. This will be her first litter but she seems to be enjoying her pregnancy and is now getting big.

Hermione is also hopefully due Mid June. I am not 100% sure she his pregnant yet but am fairly confident that she is.

Cardhu's loss 2/3/09
After a very difficult birth Cardhu lost her only kitten to be born despite all the best efforts from my vets.
Future KITTEN Plans 28/2/09
Due to the recession I am planning my breeding programme quite carefully. Although I do love all the kittens I have, I really do not want to increase my feline family this year.

I plan to put both Tamnavulin (Birman) and Hermione (Siamese) to stud in April. I have a couple of shows to do in March and April and hope to find boyfriends for Hermione and Piper-holly. I already have a suiter lined up for Tamnavulin. If both the girls go to stud in April I would expect kittens late June, early July.

If there is sufficient demand for kittens I will look to breed Piper-holly (Siamese) and Noly (Birman) around September time, and kittens would be due approximately November.

With regard to my Snowshoe girl Athena, again I will see what the demand is but the earliest I would breed her is July as she isn't a year old until June.

If anyone is interested in kittens in the future please do not hesitate to contact me as this will give me an indication on what the demand is and I always keep the e mails of people looking for kittens and let them know when I have kittens available.
General Update 28th Feb 2009
Well Spring is nearly upon us and hopefully the bad weather is behind us. I have spent time this weekend updating the website and putting new photo's on. I hope you all like the updates.

Cardhu my Birman girl is currently 4 days overdue for giving birth. The vet and myself think that there is only one kitten and that the hormones haven't kicked in enough yet for her to give birth. She is fit and well in herself and I have felt the kitten move on numerous occassions. Lets hope things happen over the next couple of days as I would prefer to avoid a 'C' section.
This is a great way to put all your cats into one picture. Dave Roberts of 'AlyKat' Charters and Images Ltd gives the personal touch by taking time to get to know your cats before he takes the photos. I have used some of his individual photos on my website.

For more information contact Dave on or visit his website by clicking on the link on my links page.
New Queens arriving 3rd Nov 08
Although some what unexpectedly I am getting 2 new queens. One has already arrived her name is Noly and she is a Blue point Birman. I will also be getting a Seal Tortie Siamese called Hermione. Both cats have come from a lovely home in Cornwall. I have to say thankyou to their previous owner for offering me two beautiful girls. I hope that both will have a go at the show world, so I will keep you posted. You can see Noly's pictures on the queen page.
Snowshoe Girl - 4/10/08
Athena my snowshoe girl arrived with me a few weeks ago and has settled in well. My partner Andi says that she is a complete hooligan as she is full of personality and into everything. I will be adding her details to the Queen page soon.
A week on and Phoebe and her three babies are making good progress. The kittens are getting big and beginning to crawl around their pen. Phoebe has made an excellent recovery from her surgery and is taking great pride in looking after her kittens.

Futher updates and photos will be added to the kitten pages as they progress.
Phoebe's Kittens 19th August 2008
Unfortunately one of the kittens took a turn for the worst on Monday night and unfortunately died Tuesday morning.
Phoebe needed to have a C section birth. She came into labor late Saturday night and by 3am she was not making any progress the vet advised to wait a couple more hours and by 5am it was apparent that the kittens were not coming naturally. By 6.30am Phoebe under went a C section and had 6 kittens. Unfortunately 2 were too weak to survive. Phoebe and the remaining 4 are begining to thrive and fingers crossed that they will all pull through this ordeal.

There is more information on the litters page. I will also post regular updates so please keep viewing.
Snowshoes - 27th July 2008
This is my snowshoe girl that is currently only 6 weeks old and still with her breeder, Kelly Grimmett (see links for website). She will be my first snowshoe so I hope to start breeding sometime next year. If you interested in the Snowshoe have a read of the breed information sheet to find out what their personalities are like. I have to say I fell in love with them the first time I saw them in the fur. If you want more information and more pictures to look at, go to my links page and look at the snowshoe website.
General Update - 27th July 2008
All of the Birman kittens have now been sold and have gone or due to go to their new homes very soon. The requests for Birmans has been very high and I have endevoured to put people intouch with other breeders in the hope that they will find a lovely Birman kitten.
The Sad Loss of Lapis Lazuli - 5th July 2008
Lapis Lazuli like your name sake a gem.
We remember you now as we remembered you then.
A spirit so strong and a soul so bright.
Your body so small, petite and slight.
And being with you was a pure delight.

Go forth my darling my little gem.
To a land beyond, a place thats free like a magical glen.
Take care of your babies.
Let your future be bright in the land of the Goddess.
Where no one has to fight.
Remember us Lazuli as you take flight.
Remember us, our little bright light.
Phoebe is expecting kittens in the second week of August. I am hoping for a mixture of Seal, Chocolate and possibily some tabby points.
